The project forms part of the emergency measures launched after the 2018 extreme weather events. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scope of works<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The works involved impermeable plastic diaphragm walls in cement-bentonite mix, with depths and geometries adapted to the ground conditions. The project also included embankment works such as rock placement to reinforce slopes, berm formation and protective measures, together with preparatory works and ancillary site activities. Overall, more than 8,700 m\u00b2 of plastic diaphragm walls were constructed.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Operational challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The site was located in an active river environment and required the integration of geotechnical, hydraulic and bank protection works.
