The project was carried out in a complex geotechnical setting characterised by saturated soils, groundwater and high dynamic loads from heavy traffic. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scope of works<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crossing was constructed using microtunnelling technology, preceded by preventive ground improvement with jet grouting columns. This integrated solution improved the ground\u2019s strength and impermeability, controlled deformation and ensured the stability of the road platform throughout the works. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Operational challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main challenge was working beneath a live road without interrupting traffic or causing surface settlement.
