Embankment diaphragm wall and hydraulic works

Works completed:

Project overview

Cos.Idra carried out flood risk mitigation works along the Tagliamento River, aimed at strengthening and securing the existing embankments between Latisana Hospital and Gorgo. The project forms part of a wider programme of strategic hydraulic defence works for the area.

Scope of works

The works included reinforced concrete diaphragm walls for the embankment barriers, guide walls and connecting beams, micropiles and consolidation grouting, as well as the construction and upgrading of hydraulic structures such as sluices, chambers and pipelines. The project also involved excavation, earthmoving, embankment formation, environmental reinstatement and final landscaping. In total, around 11,590 m² of diaphragm walls were constructed.

Operational challenges

The site was located in a river environment and in the presence of water, requiring coordination of numerous structural, hydraulic and environmental activities across several phases. Effective site management depended on organisational continuity, interference control and the ability to integrate different types of work.

Results

The project helped strengthen the embankment system and improve hydraulic safety in the area, integrating structural works, geotechnical operations and associated hydraulic works.
