Project overview

As part of a production expansion at an industrial site in Sassuolo, Cos.Idra delivered retaining and foundation works for new process tanks. The project was carried out in a complex operational setting, requiring deep excavations and safe execution throughout all construction stages.

Scope of works

The works included a retaining wall formed by 76 jet grouting columns Ø1000 mm, integrated with 180 active self-drilling bar anchors arranged on multiple levels to ensure excavation stability at depths exceeding 10 metres. The project was completed with the construction of reinforced concrete foundations and tank structures, including slabs, support elements and connections to the above-ground structures.

Operational challenges

The site required close coordination of geotechnical and structural activities across several construction phases, from temporary support works through to the permanent structures. The depth of the excavations, the multiple anchor levels and the high concentration of structural elements called for precise execution, continuous deformation control and careful planning.

Results

The project enabled the tanks to be built safely, ensuring excavation stability and construction continuity throughout the programme. The integration of jet grouting, anchors and reinforced concrete works created a coordinated support and foundation system suited to the technical complexity of the project
