Special foundation and jet grouting works for a Levante Edison power plant

Project overview

Between 2021 and 2023, Cos.Idra carried out a multi-year programme of specialist foundation works at Edison’s Centrale Levante plant in Marghera, on behalf of A.C.R. Reggiani, as part of refurbishment and upgrade activities. The works were delivered in several phases, following the evolving requirements of the site.

Scope of works

The activities included jet grouting columns up to Ø700 mm, micropiles and specialist drilling works, the supply and installation of steel tubes for Cross Hole testing, core drilling of existing piles, supplementary cement grouting, and targeted completion works on structures and sheet piling. The project also included ancillary operations linked to logistics and grout plant management.

Operational challenges

The complexity of the project stemmed from the need to work within an active power plant, coordinating with other ongoing activities and adapting the technologies used to requirements that evolved over time. Maintaining a continuous presence on site required considerable operational flexibility and the ability to work on both new and existing structures.

Results

The combination of jet grouting, micropiles and complementary works supported the different phases of the project while ensuring continuity and responsiveness to changing site requirements.
