Project overview

Cos.Idra was involved in the refurbishment and extension of a hotel in Jesolo, delivering excavation support works in an urban environment with limited space and in close proximity to existing buildings.

Scope of works

The project involved the construction of a Berlin-type retaining wall using staggered and alternating bored micropiles, which serve a structural function and provide soil containment and hydraulic sealing. Reinforced and unreinforced micropiles, with lengths of up to 15 meters and diameters of up to 300 mm, were installed, for a total of over 200 piles distributed across several construction sections. The system was reinforced with steel sheet piles and, in the areas subject to the greatest stress, with active tie rods.

Operational challenges

The construction project required a high degree of precision in execution, both due to its proximity to existing structures and the need to coordinate the work with other retaining systems. Managing confined spaces and operational conflicts made careful planning of the work phases essential.

Results

The works delivered an effective integrated support system capable of ensuring excavation stability and hydraulic sealing in a particularly sensitive urban context. The combination of micropiles, sheet piles and anchors safely supported the subsequent construction phases.
